Colt National Match Deluxe Gold Cup Raffle
Congratulations to Michael H. from Mounds View, MN.
Michael had ticket # 176946 and is the winner of the Colt National Match Prize Package.
In the early 20th Century, the sport of target shooting was enjoyed by people from diverse economic backgrounds, and influential people thought of it as a respectable sport, much like golf or tennis today. In the era between the two world wars, the National Matches came into being, and a competition was sponsored by the NRA which was designed to test a shooter’s skills against the best shooters from around the nation.
As the Great Depression began to dominate the economic landscape, it made little sense for Colt’s to launch a new, hand fitted model, with a special target barrel and sights. This new model cost nearly twice as much as the standard Government Model. The retail price of this new model was $40 in 1932, when the average Government Model retailed for less than $22. As a result of this pricing, the Pre World War II National Match pistols were produced in relatively low numbers, but the buyer got something extra special for his money.
Exceptional value is also the hallmark of the TALO Edition National Match Gold Cup, which we are offering to one lucky winner as part of April’s fundraising campaign to benefit Kara’s HoPE. This exceptional pistol is a limited edition of only 250 guns, and like its namesake, it is loaded with match grade and custom features. The National Match Gold Cup is fitted with a match grade barrel, adjustable rear sights with a Patridge target front sight, and special G10 laminate grips.
In addition to the mechanical features which separate this model from standard Colt offerings, this TALO edition wears an exceptional polished finish which reflects the craftsmanship of days gone by. Vintage 1930’s style markings also adorn the left side of the slide. This pistol will make a beautiful addition to any collection, and is more than capable of winning matches with the right finger on the trigger.
As of this writing, this edition is sold out, and while there may be a few examples available on the secondary market, we think it’s safe to say that your best chance to add this match pistol to your own collection may be to grab a few raffle tickets before this event ends. One lucky winner will take delivery of this unique and desirable collector’s edition Colt.
Guns for a Cause is hosting this fundraiser on behalf of Kara’s HoPE. Proceeds from this event will help fund their ongoing mission to provide relief to families with children who are coping with the effects of Holoprosencephaly (HPE).
Hurry though, because with only 2,000 tickets available, we expect this event to sell out for this highly sought-after custom pistol package. The TALO National Match Gold Cup retails for nearly $2,000. Tickets for this event are just $20 and will be available only through 11:00 pm (Eastern) on the 1st of May, 2016. A cash alternative prize will be made available to participants in California, or any other jurisdiction where this specific firearm may be prohibited.

Please note: Due to U.S. postal regulations (18 U.S.C. Section 1302), raffle ticket stubs cannot be returned by mail for purchases over the Internet, through the mail or by telephone. When an order is placed, we will add the donor’s information including name, address, e-mail address and phone number, into our database. Each “ticket” will then be assigned a computer generated randomized number. The winning “ticket” shall also be selected by using a random number generator, thus creating a “double blind” selection process. The winner will be notified based on the name and contact information provided by the donor, at the time of the donation.
